WALK THROUGH THE CENTENARY SEQUOIA FOREST, VISIT TO A HONEY PRODUCER AND THE NATURE MUSEUM

Dentro del recorrido de esta ruta a pie que proponemos que será de baja dificultad y muy aconsejables para poder hacer un poco de ejercicio físico sin mucho esfuerzo. La excursión se realizará con recogida en los hoteles correspondientes o bien de salida en nuestra base de Pumalverde (Udías), Cantabria, depending on what the client prefers.

La verdad es que resulta realmente curioso encontrarte condos hectáreas y media de secuoyas en una zona tan atípica para estas plantaciones como es Cantabria. Las Secuoyas es una especie común de la Costa Oeste de EEUU, pero, no hace falta ir tan lejos para verlas.

Escondido en el municipio de Cabezón de la Sal y lindando con Udías se encuentra el bosque de secuoyas que se plantaron en Cantabria por necesidades industriales de la zona alrededor del año 1940, durante la época del franquismo, donde se plantaron848 secuoyas para aprovechar la madera para la industria, de esta forma no sería necesario depender de materias primas exteriores.

Pero ocurrió que al tener al principio un crecimiento rápido se quedaron en el olvido y ya no les interesó cortarlas como materia prima maderable y se quedaron plantadas tal y como las dejaron, y posteriormente al darse cuenta que es uno de los parajes más bonitos de Cantabria con lo cual el bosque fue declarado Monumento Natural.

          Este bosque tiene secuoyas de hasta 40 metros de altura, and aperímetro de unos dos metros, y dar un paseo por allí resulta realmente agradable y más con los colores del otoño, aunquetodavía hay mucha gente que aún no lo conoce, a pesar de ser un paseo sin dificultad o de fácil acceso.

El acceso se realiza por carretera que discurre desde Cabezón a Comillas hasta los distintos aparcamientos al pie de la carretera, y a partir de los mismos entran una serie de sendas bien señalizadas que entrecruzan los distintos bosques.

Ya una vez terminada la visita regresamos al aparcamiento para continuar con la excursión a otro lugar.

Posteriormente iremos a comer a un restaurante cercano y tras la comida en la zona acordada se realizará la segunda excursión por la tarde visitando el museo de la naturaleza de Cantabria.

En este museo podemos ver un compendio de las cosas más naturales que existen en el territorio de Cantabria, además de una colección de mariposas e insectos de todo el territorio.

PARTICIPANTS

The excursion is done with a Maximum of 8 participants and a minimum of 6 participants.

DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL POINTS.

Customer can be picked up, in their respective hotels or come to our facilities and we will leave our base in Pumalverde.

EXCURSION PRICES:

If the client is picked up at the hotel in Santander or Torrelavega with completion at the same pick-up location.90.00 Euros.

If you leave and arrive at our base located in Pumalverde (Udías). 80.00 Euros.

DAYS THE EXCURSION TAKES PLACE:

Los lunes y sábados de todo el año si hay participantes en mínimo de 6 people and maximum 8.

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF THE EXCURSION

The excursion is only suitable for people without disabilities with ages over 10 years, that they can walk the proposed route, (Check ages between 5 y 10 years).

The cancellation would be super flexible with 2 days in advance is refunded 100%.

The number maximum of participants is 8 personas, with a minimum of 6 personas.

The duration of the excursion is approximately the entire day 8-9 hours with food included in the price in the area stipulated in the excursion.

The client must come provided with appropriate clothing and footwear and the company that organizes the excursion provides the miniban or van for transportation of 8 maximum people.

Pets are not allowed on the tour.

The language to speak, It would be Spanish and English and there are reservations for those with physical difficulties as they would not be able to access certain areas of the excursion. (Check the type of access on each visit of the day).
