EXCURSION TO ASTURIAS, GULPIYURI BEACH, PRIA AND COVADONGA FLAME BUFFONS

As part of this route, which passes through various places in eastern Asturias, we will visit the emblematic Gulpiyuri beach., what is a natural monument.  Later we will go to Llames de Pría to visit the Bufones, and finally we will go to Covadonga to see the Santina cave and the imposing Basilica of Covadonga..

This excursion will be carried out with pick-up from the corresponding hotels in Santander or Torrelavega or departure from our Pumalverde base in Udías., Cantabria, depending on what the client prefers.

The excursion begins in the morning when we will go to Gulpiyuri beach, in eastern Asturias, the beach is made up of white sand and salt water, but the Cantabrian Sea is churning its waters a few meters away and only sneaks below the cliffs. It measures about forty meters in length and barely contains any sand during high tide..

General visit of Gulpiyuri beach

It does not have any services and is only accessible on foot along a livestock track., which is prohibited from circulating any motor vehicle that is not livestock, It is surrounded by meadows with a higher altitude. The closest town is Naves and access is via a farm road. These areas where, due to the phenomenon of Karstification, a phenomenon called drainage is recorded when the low tide begins..

Later we moved to Llames de Pría, Locality cotera situated about 20 km., heading to Ribadesella,  in itcouncil Asturian ofLlanes. It is the grouping ofjesters westernmost of the Asturian coast and is integrated into theProtected Landscape of the Eastern Coast of Asturias.

Andjester It is a trainingkarstic which consists of a vertical hole formed a few meters from the edge of a rock clifflimestone and that communicates inferiorly with the sea, The calcareous rocks suffer their dissolution and a phenomenon occurs that causes the water to come out through the existing chasms or cavities with an impressive noise and releasing the sea water in spray form.. which causes a characteristic sound that is what gives it the name jester.

The column of sprayed water can reach more than 10 meters high and the snort can be heard several kilometers away, That is why it is also usually called in Asturian “Bramadoriu”..

Once the visit to this area is finished, we will go to eat at a nearby restaurant., where we can enjoy typical Asturian food.

Next, In the afternoon we will go to Covadonga to visit the Virgin (“La Santina”, for Asturians).

we will pass, through the mythical town of Cangas de Onís, with its imposing Roman bridge where on the way back, We will make a short stop to visit and have some cider at the cider house located in front of the bridge.

EXCURSION PRICES:

If the client is picked up at the hotel in Santander or Torrelavega with completion at the same pick-up location.140.00 Euros.

If you leave and arrive at our base located in Pumalverde (Udías). 130.00 Euros.

DAYS THE EXCURSION TAKES PLACE:

For reasons of seeing the jesters, This excursion can best be done on days when there are spring tides., What exactly are the days of the new or full moon? (consult lunar phases and tide table or contact us), What would happen, when the tides have high rise and fall coefficients, If that is not the case, They could be done but possibly without seeing the Jesters perform.

 They will therefore be carried out all year round, The jesters will only be seen on days with high tidal coefficients on the high seas and close to new and full moons. On the rest of the days we will visit the area without seeing the jesters due to the lack of tidal coefficient..

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF THE EXCURSION

The excursion is only suitable for people without disabilities with ages over 10 years, that they can walk the proposed route, (Check ages between 5 y 10 years).

The cancellation would be super flexible with 2 days in advance is refunded 100%.

The number maximum of participants is 8 personas, with a minimum of 6 personas.

The duration of the excursion is approximately the entire day 8-9 hours with food included in the price in the area stipulated in the excursion.
